UN report projects China economy to grow 8.8%
China's economic growth is projected toreach 8.8 percent in 2010, but will still fall short of pace accordingto pre-economic crisis levels, a new UN economic report said onWednesday.
A preview of the annual economic report, which was launched at theUN Headquarters in New York, recognized that the global "economicrevival" is a byproduct of the massive fiscal stimulus by governmentsworldwide toward the end of 2008.
According to the report, the world economy is expected to slowlyrebound in 2010 where developing Asia would lead the pack in thestrongest recovery.
India was also listed as another developing country where economic growth would take place, at a projected rate of 6.5 percent. According to the report, China has experienced a surge in outwardinvestment, which reached an estimated $150 billion in 2009. This wascompared to the outflows of capital from emerging economies to otherdeveloping countries which had " moderated" in the last two years.
Citing that "investors in emerging economies recoiled along withthose in developed countries," the report noted that China was "buckingthe trend."
Warning that the economic recovery was "uneven and conditions forsustained growth remain fragile," the report urged " rebalancing globalgrowth." This was needed, the report warned, in order to avoid therecurrence of another global imbalance.
The annual report which is scheduled to be released next month isproduced by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs ( DESA),the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and five UNregional commissions.

联合国经济与社会事务部当天在纽约提前发布了《2010年世界经济形势与展望》报告的第一章，其余章节将在明年1月发布。报告预测，在经历了2009年的大幅下挫之后，2010年世界经济将在发展中国家的带领下出现反弹，实现2．4％的增长。
报告说，发展中国家将成为2010年世界经济增长的主要动力，其中亚洲地区发展中国家的经济增速最快，中国将达8．8％，印度为6．5％。发展中国家整体经济增长将从2009年的1．9％升至5．3％，但仍低于金融危机发生前年均7％的增长率。
此外，报告说，危机前出现的资金流从新兴经济体转向其他发展中国家的势头在过去两年里开始放缓。不过与这一趋势相反的是，中国的对外投资持续增加，报告估计2009年中国对外投资将达1500亿美元。
报告认为，世界经济的增长受益于财政刺激措施及制造业贸易的回暖，在亚洲国家尤为如此。但报告同时指出，世界经济的复苏将是缓慢和脆弱的，未来还会面临许多风险，如果处理不当，复苏将仅是昙花一现。
联合国经济与社会事务部、贸易和发展会议以及联合国5个区域经社委员会每年1月联合发布《世界经济形势与展望》报告，它是联合国发布的重要经济报告之一。 |
